Our new Vivint doorbell camera has the same connection issues. I once again called Vivint and was told that we would need to have a repeater installed between the camera and the panel. The panel shows that the signal strength on the camera is above 90%. Vivint said that they will charge another $49 service call fee to have a repeater installed. I argued that the system was not installed properly if we needed a repeater, but they will not waive the fee. Vivint said if we would have needed the repeater within 120 days they would have replaced it for free, but we are outside of that timeframe.

Wireless systems use an Analog DVR. Wireless security cameras provide 24/7 monitoring and need to be plugged in. Wire Free systems, on the other hand, include a specific DVR and wire free security cameras. These cameras are battery powered and only start recording when they detect motion. Both types of systems offer the same standard features as a wired systems, including HD quality recording, infrared night vision, and motion detection sensors. They also use DSSS Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum technology to ensure a secure connection while minimizing interference from competing wireless devices. Wireless security cameras are becoming more and more popular in the consumer market, being a cost effective way to have a comprehensive surveillance system installed in a home or business for an often less expensive price. Wireless cameras are also ideal for people renting homes or apartments. Since there is no need to run video extension cables through walls or ceilings from the camera to the receiver or recording device one does not need approval of a landlord to install a wireless security camera system. Additionally, the lack of wiring allows for less "clutter," avoiding damage to the look of a building. If you own a wireless security camera, chances are that you bought it to keep your home and family safer.
